What fees will I have to pay?
If you do not qualify for legal aid Keenan & Company will set out in advance what our fees will be for representation.
Do I qualify for legal aid?
Legal aid is means tested and the court takes into account what your earnings are along with any outgoing. Contact Keenan & Company to ascertain if you qualify for legal aid.
Will I be left with a conviction?
This depends on the offence you are prosecuted for. If your case is successfully defended it will be dismissed and you will be left with no conviction. If you plead guilty to an offence the Court will in some circumstances give you an opportunity to be left without a conviction.
What are the impacts of a conviction on my record?
A criminal conviction can have a number of significant implications, it can impact employment, travel and visa applications.
How long does the Court process take?
Every case is different and whilst minor cases can be finalised after one or two Court appearances, more serious offences which are contested can take over a year before they are finished.
What happens if I am not happy with the result which I receive?
In the District Court you have a period of 14 days to appeal any result to the Circuit Court and you will be provided with a new hearing date.
